This refers to the report “Turf war between plan panel & UIDAI intensifies” (September 29). The country needs an efficient job in collecting biometrics and creating unique identity cards. Nandan Nilekani and his able team should be allowed to go ahead with it. Nilekani’s credentials are superior. His implementation of the project so far is impressive. The data collected by the Unique Identification Authority of India can be made accessible to P Chidambaram, but why does he want his ministry to undertake the collection job when it is under fire for incompetence?
