This refers to Nilanjana S Roy's column "Those who stay" (Speaking Volumes, April 28). The concern raised by the author regarding the safety and security of the 'liberal community' is genuine in today's context. The brutal killing of an atheist blogger, Avijit Roy, in Bangladesh, the murder of Dabholkar in Maharastra and the recent gunning down of Sabeen Mahmud for floating the idea of Balochistan, all these victims have one 'mistake' in common - the desire to speak their minds.
