This refers to the edit “Licence permit raj” (January 20). In the context of Lok Pal, many people, especially from the establishment or those who are pro-establishment, raised the spectre of it becoming too powerful and unanswerable to anyone. But what about the fact that the government itself is already that kind of a monster, considering the draconian bans that it can impose on any and every activity? If we say courts are supposed to keep the government in check, why not accept that Lok Pal can also be kept in check by the judiciary?
