This refers to Bharat Bhushan's article "The pitfalls of being Modi" (November 19). In today's context, it is a fact that even in a family it is impossible for a single leading voice - who does not like dissent - to command that kind of respect and following.
Given the socio-political diversity and complicated interlinkedness of the states, it is utopian to expect a one-man show, even if he is a superman. A superman can only extend his ability to comprehend and dictate but not understand the complexities of Indian administration as far as development is concerned.
As chief minister, Narendra Modi's success has been attributed to the fact that his leadership as an administrator and usher to a vibrant Gujarat was limited to a handful of trusted people and industrialists. This cannot be the case for the entire nation.
To top it all, there are policies that are an integral part of our national economy, which has been built up on histories of post-independent India, with all its success and failures.
We would be inclined to believe that Modi is well briefed about all these historical truths when he announces policies for India.
