With reference to the report, "Rein in party members to retain credibility, Moody's tells Modi" (October 31), Moody's is an international ratings agency; it does not need the authorisation of any external body to publish its reports. Except Prime Minister Narendra Modi's social media followers and the Sangh Parivar, possibly no one was surprised to read Moody's advice for Modi to regain the government's domestic and global credibility - now at its lowest due to the Bihar Assembly elections.

Moody's said: "In recent times, the government also hasn't helped itself, with controversial comments from various BJP members. While Modi has largely distanced himself from the nationalist jibes, the belligerent provocation of various Indian minorities has raised ethnic tensions."

I agree with Moody's note that "Modi must keep his members in check or risk losing domestic and global credibility". It seems Modi's primary job is either to visit foreign countries, campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar or promote the party otherwise. The last two are especially not the PM's job. Modi needs to work to ensure the development and prosperity of the country.

His attendance in Parliament sessions is rare. If he were sincere, he would have attended the Parliament sessions and sorted out problems with Opposition leaders.
