This refers to the report “Civil society, India Inc to be CAG’s guiding lights” (July 23). The Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG’s) effort to be open to guidance and expert advice from eminent statesmen is commendable. The governments at the Centre and states should join hands with him to ensure that the country’s assets, irrespective of the nature of their ownership, are not plundered by unscrupulous elements. Moreover, effort should be made to correct past mistakes and address the corrupt practices that the CAG’s reports highlight instead of merely blaming or defending individuals and organisations.
