This refers to the edit “Look closer to home” (September 9). Was there anything new in the Washington Post article that the Indian media has not been telling us for months now? Did the Washington Post invent the term “policy paralysis”? Of course not. So, why whine over the opinion piece.
The developed world wants us to live up to our economic potential as much as we want it to bounce back with a sustained strong recovery. Let’s not indulge in unwarranted media bashing and diminish the appeal of our “soft power”. We should get growth back on track instead of worrying about news reports.
The response of the Prime Minister’s Office to the Washington Post article was shocking and it hurt our image of a nation that is committed to individual and media freedom as a constitutional democracy.
