Nitish Kumar has emerged as the thinking man’s ideal politician (‘Caste in a new mould’, May 5). After so many years of misrule by Mr and Mrs Lalu Prasad, even getting the state back on track (pun intended) is a difficult job. But, as he goes along, Kumar will find the going even tougher. It is one thing to give sweeping powers to the police to eliminate some of the mafia dons in the state, it is quite another to actually deliver on building infrastructure and getting investors to set up plants in the state. Will the state’s electorate give Kumar the many terms he needs to do this? This is Bihar’s challenge.
