This refers to the controversy over the lack of bids for the 11 Pakistan cricket players who were on auction. This has little to do with an unwillingness on the part of India, and Indian firms who were bidding, to want to have anything to do with Pakistan as has been alleged. Some have even spoken of a verbal diktat from the government. The firms who own IPL teams are run for profit and, to that extent, their bids reflect the same. They will only bid for players who will help them win tournaments. Since there was, and remains, considerable uncertainty over whether the Pakistani players will be available, there was little point in these firms bidding for Pakistan players, only to find that the government there did not permit them to play in India. It was a commercial decision, don’t read too much into it.
