At a time when the world economy is in the doldrums and we are suffering slowdown pangs, Business Standard reports that the Congress party wants “a politician to head the (finance) ministry.” Surely, this is not the time to learn on the job. We need a steady and experience hand on the tiller. I am sure the PM recalls that his political guru, Narasimha Rao, put a non-politician on the job in 1991. And that didn’t work out too badly, did it?
