This refers to the column “Give food some thought” by Surinder Sud (August 9). Many thinkers and experts have been offering different suggestions to mitigate the problem of high food inflation. There is a crying need for a dynamic, decisive and visionary leadership that will move into concrete action. Unfortunately, India is still saddled with an old and tired set of leaders in the government. They can, at best, rationalise the causes of the problem by attributing them to anything and everything other than lack of action on their part and offer some benign hope.
