The government of West Bengal must apologise to Ratan Tata for its misgovernance and mishandling of his prestigious car project. Further, the government must also compensate the losses incurred by the Tata group which invested heavily in Singur for setting up the Nano car project.
Though this 997-acre land in Singur was sanctioned by the government, Ratan Tata was forced to shift his car project to Sanand in Gujarat. Since Ratan Tata is a gentleman, he has asked only for a negligible portion of the loss actually incurred by his group. Anyone in Tata’s position would have certainly demanded a much larger compensation. We need to realise that Tata has asked the government of West Bengal for this money as he has to protect the interests of the share holders.
