This refers to the article "101 laws that need to go..." (October 8). One more archaic law that needs to go is The Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949, under the provisions of which prohibition is enforced and liquor permits are issued in Gujarat. Prohibition has never been enforced successfully in any part of the world. Instead of the state, a coterie of people associated with the state stand to gain from this archaic unenforceable law. A new liquor dispensing law should be introduced with strict implementation.
