Apropos the editorial “The anti-reform Congress” (May 14), it is true that the Lok Sabha witnesses much pandemonium when MPs disrupt the Question Hour and parliamentary proceedings. In this context, all the concerns raised by the Speaker over the misbehaviour of the elected representatives in the House should be taken into consideration. Also, honest efforts are needed to discipline the erring elected members.
Further, the government should consider “no work, no pay” for MPs who disrupt parliamentary proceedings and for low-performing ministers. The MPs, on their part, should take moral responsibility and behave themselves in a good manner in the House so that the valuable time could be spent on constructive work.
One hopes that there would be a major paradigm shift in the mindset of the elected representatives in the Lok Sabha.
