Jay Bhattacharjee has highlighted the farce of the Commonwealth in no uncertain terms (“The real farce is the Commonwealth”, August 15). Sadly, our sense of history has been lost in the labyrinth of confusion, so we may never be able to know the truth. Generations of Indians have lost touch with reality and parrot the British version of history. For the majority of us, Independence Day is just another holiday. The sense of servitude remains and holding the Commonwealth Games is ample proof of this fact.
