The report "How government created yoga day euphoria" (June 23) shows how the Indian government machinery can perform if there is intention. Displaying the same commitment in tackling open defecation, child malnutrition, maternal mortality and illiteracy - to pick up just a few of the chronic problems that India lives with - would cause the world to have much greater respect for India.
