This refers to the editorial "India's tight-fisted rich" (February 24). First, the resentment against India Inc's love towards donating for public welfare causes is difficult to understand. Our industrialists have been donating even before Bill Gates was born. Second, what is so special about Azim Premji transferring some shares to the Azim Premji Foundation? You will agree that the right of ownership of shares is still vested with Premji, and the value of shares remain invested in Wipro. The relevant question is how much money has been spent for the purpose of public good? Is it Rs 1 lakh or Rs 1 crore or Rs 100 crore? This fact remains undisclosed.
