This refers to Ajit Balakrishnan's column, "Broken educational systems" (November 30), which talks of how parents are paying huge sums to fund the education of their children at all levels. My daughter studied at Cardiff University for her Masters in International PR and Global Business Communication.
I invested Rs 25 lakh in her education, but I must say the course content available in Cardiff isn't available at any institute of higher learning in India. I am amazed at the relevance of the academic curriculum at the university to actual corporate requirements. No wonder my daughter has found the opportunity to work with a top-notch corporate communications company in India.
One point that requires attention is that the UK isn't giving work visa to students from countries like India. This is unfair. My daughter had known about it when she went there to study, yet she convinced me to invest in her education there.
Content and quality of education always come at a premium.

Where else would one be taught corporate social responsibility, advocacy, press release build-up and execution in such detail? Add to this, the subjects related to digital marketing and the use of social media for corporate communication were also taught well.
