It was disappointing to read your edit “Steam Anna” (August 17) that focused on technicalities rather than substance. No one is questioning the fact that laws can only be made in Parliament. But the problem is that our “honourable” MPs are treating their being elected as a licence to permit (and even encourage) corrupt practices. Is it not high time we remind our MPs that they are expected and required to act in the nation’s interest? This is exactly what Anna Hazare and his honest and capable supporters (who are well aware of the country’s ground realities) are doing.
