This refers the news report "PM condemns religious violence, promises 'freedom of faith'" (February 18). Prime Minister Narendra Modi did well by breaking his silence on incidents of religious extremism in the country for which he had been facing criticism. A couple of days ago, Modi had called and pulled up the Delhi Police Commissioner on attacks on Christian institutions and asked him to crack down on those behind the attacks. Now, he has assured that the government will give equal respect to all religions and that people's right to retain or adopt the religion of their choice will be protected. It should serve as a stern warning to religious extremists in all faiths.
