“Incredible India: A private initiative to rural tourism” (July 13) is an eye-opener and tells you how much can be done if only people use their imagination. Former banker Nachiket Mor has found a way to sell rural tourism to urban folk needing a low-cost break which, at the same time, is also novel. Mor gives his own example of living with a fisherman and getting much closer to the water than he’d ever get in a 5-star hotel. Since India has so many festivals, more often associated with the crop cycle, it is certain that tourism around this would be a big hit. I remember a travel agency in Nepal planning tourist visits around Dussehra and other festivals — so many foreigners, desperate for an experience of “real” life, flocked to the travel agency.
