The State Bank of India management has, through a notice published in all major newspapers, absolved itself of its responsibility towards its customers by expressing regret about the “possible” non-availability of banking services for five days, starting November 6. Everyone agrees that the bank’s customers, particularly senior citizens, are often at the receiving end of such strikes. It is no one’s case that the bank officers’ grievances are not genuine. But certainly their way of seeking redressal, though claimed to be democratic, is most unfair. But how many of us can protest and invite the wrath of the powerful cartel of bank officers and employees?
