In the article “Of Governors, Speakers and Legislators” Dorab S Sopariwala (November 14) prefers civil servants and the judiciary to the governors, forgetting the corruption among these worthies and, of course, the media which, in recent times, has distinguished itself by its innovative methods of corruption. In his anxiety to be impartial, he seems to be willing to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its condemnation of the governor for sending an ineffective request to the speaker to not prejudge the House by a pre-emptive order. Sopariwala reminds me of what V K Krishna Menon once said about neutrality: “If you are in the middle of the road you will be crushed by a truck.”
