This refers to Alokananda Chakraborty's column "Can selfies stay in focus?" (Rules Of The Game, May 6). The general elections were also a great a "selfie opportunity" for many. Getting inked became a style statement and the social media was inundated with selfies. One wonders if it triggered the people to vote too. Only the Election Commission would know if the voter turnout improved, but clicking inked selfies surely contributed to the 2014 general elections. And, it is true selfies have the potential to drive important marketing campaigns.
