Your editorial ‘More mansabdari’, March 17, paints a dismal picture of things to come. Sadly, much of what you say is true. The Congress party has abandoned all its principles and has, for the sake of staying in power, partitioned the Cabinet along the lines of the old mansabdari system — there are just so many goodies, so here’s your share on the basis of the number of MPs you have. As the main Congress/BJP parties get weaker, the bargaining power of the so-called Third Front parties increases and there will be even less chance of any semblance of governance. And yet we keep talking of the wisdom of the Indian voter.
