This refers to the edit “Anna vs Aruna” (August 23). There can be no argument against the need to hear the voices of civil society activists beyond Team Anna. The edit rightly points out that ultimately it is the government that has a majority in Parliament and hence is the only entity that can pass a Bill. But, that also means the government can push a Bill that suits its preferences, ignoring the views of civil society. A solution to this problem can possibly be found if individual MPs are allowed to vote on Bills independently, without being forced to toe the party line.
