It is not often that regulators take to literary means to convey a message. Therefore, officials at the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation were surprised when the drug controller general of India, G N Singh, quoted from Robert Frost's poem, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" to urge his team to work with "full determination, dedication, devotion and discipline" and come up with innovative measures "to fulfil the government's and patients' expectations". He ended his message with these four lines from the poem: "The woods are lovely, dark, and deep/But I have promises to keep/And miles to go before I sleep/And miles to go before I sleep."
