The long-running feud between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) has found an international arena. A senior ICAI official was nominated to a position on an international accountants’ body. Not to be outdone, ICWAI also nominated a candidate. “This put India is such a bad light — two organisations from a same country fighting for the same thing at an international level,” the ICAI official said. But that did not stop him from exulting that ICWAI was the loser since its candidate got only seven votes to ICAI’s 71.
