A biometric machine is not usually the most revered object in an office because it accurately tracks employees' attendance and punctuality and enables bosses to keep tabs on their junior staff. An exception is the department of animal husbandry in Krishi Bhawan, headquarters of the ministry of agriculture. Recently, when a brand new biometric machine was installed on the premises, it was garlanded with long chains of marigold flowers. What was unusual was the length of the garlands that covered the height and width of the machine. Who was so pleased with the biometric machine? It was certainly not the many habitual latecomers!
