Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee is known for her mercurial temperament but things get a lot worse when the CPI(M) is involved. A journalist wanted some information about land acquisition by the Railways, but began the question saying, “Ganashakti has reported …” Even before the reporter could complete her sentence, a furious Banerjee asked, “Why are you asking me about what Ganashakti has written? It is their party mouthpiece.

I am not bound to answer to what Ganashakti has written. Am I their servant?” Matters didn’t end here and, in her official press conference at Railway Bhawan, Bannerjee continued, “Everyday they are deploying their MPs and MLAs to halt one track or the other and then they cry foul that Rajdhani Express is delayed! They were supporting the UPA government during the last five years. But didn’t they raise their voice on these demands during that period?” Banerjee promised she would hold a political press conference to unveil the double standards and ‘wicked nature’ of the CPI(M).
