I stagger out of bed just in time to grab the stack of dailies from the newspaper boy before the rest of the family lays hands on them. Both arms full of papers, I totter unsteadily to the sofa, deposit them in a pile beside me, put my feet up, take a swig of chai, and am ready for my daily fix.

Nice pictures of Sachin coaching his son in the TOI. But I personally thought that DNA's shot of Tendulkar's son was better. Are all of us who waded home on July 26 going to get leptospirosis?

Good photo of Fardeen Khan drooling over the best dancer in "The International Lux Body Wash Fantastic Females Night". How can they be so sure how much the state lost in the floods? The Pakis really thrashed us in hockey. The problems within the BJP don't seem to go away. Where's the editorial?

Oh I forgot they put it in the second section, trying to make it as unobtrusive as possible. I check what the stars foretell and decide I must try out the blue margharita at the ITC Grand Maratha. Should I also save for the new M-class Mercedes Benz? It's high time to have a pet, I've been reading about all the celebs' Chihuahuas.

On to the pink papers. Good news, the FIIs were net buyers again. I check my stocks, which reminds me it's time to watch CNBC and NDTV Profit. I stare at the ticker, catch up on what happened to the Dow last night, and on how the Kospi and Nikkei are doing.

I realise that I'll be late again for office, and grab the Mumbai Mirror while going out""it comes free with the TOI, and it's just the right size to read on the train.

On the train, the guy behind me reads the piece on "Work-out of the sexes" over my shoulder. I borrow the Hindi "Saamna" to see whether the Sena has anything to say about the squabbling in their party.

At the office, I settle down with the financial dailies, reading all about shrimp dumping duty. After that, it's time for the international papers. I check out the New York Times and the FT on the net, and my favourite blogs and websites. I go though Reuters and Bloomberg to get the breaking news, and check out the Sensex once in five minutes while working.

I also read interesting tit-bits on whether Britney Spears will have a boy and whether it will be named Preston, and on Smriti Irani's secrets about her real life marriage. The latest stories on bank reform and the situation in J&K make me worry.

We look at the plain Janes that Madison Avenue is using in ads, and debate whether Jude Law really has the sexiest bottom in films, as Bombay Times has suggested, and how that piece compares with the DNA one on who has the best cleavage. There's a timely story about adult ratings for newspapers.

On reaching home I switch on the TV, just to make sure I haven't missed anything. After dinner, while I'm watching BBC, CNN and CNBC together, my family wants me to buy the tickets for a movie next week. But where do I have the time for such things?

That's all for now""I've got to read an interesting piece about 7 foods for stress-free skin before I get to sleep.
