A police officer’s alleged mismanagement caused a traffic jam, prompting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to walk to her destination. Within a week, predictably, the police officer was asked to take a walk from his office. The incident took place at South Dinajpur district of West Bengal last week when Banerjee was on her way to attend a function in the district town of Balurghat. Banerjee did not, however, complain, saying she loves to walk (as, indeed, she memorably did on her first day in office in Kolkata, causing all manner of security problems). All the same, Chirantan Nag, Superintendent of Police in the district, received his transfer orders soon after.
