After incessant and heavy rain in Raipur, a newspaper had a picture of a house in the state-run housing board colony that was half-submerged. This set off the usual chain of officials being summoned and given a dressing down by their seniors, and then being told to ensure things were fixed quickly. Senior officials rushed to the spot and while there was water there, they were unable to find the half-submerged house. Turned out the photographer had given the news desk pictures he had shot the previous year — this year, thanks to a nearby canal under repair, the colony was relatively unaffected.
