Mercy Ravi, a trail blazing woman from Kerala and a former MLA, died on Saturday morning in a Chennai hospital after a protracted kidney ailment. Wife of Union minister Vayalar Ravi, Mercy was a social iconoclast of her times who defied taboos and traditions in personal life. However, besides her political and social work, not many people know that Mercy had been running an NGO for the welfare of people like her, those who needed constant dialysis to live, from her hospital bed.
