India's limited-overs cricket captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, makes it a point to pick up the stumps, and sometimes the bails, as souvenirs after every India win. At the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, however, he had to go back to the pavilion without a souvenir. It was actually a question of hard cash: the LED stumps that were being used cost about Rs 24 lakh and a pair of bails as much as an iPhone 6 (Rs 50,000). So, when Dhoni took off with one of the bails after the match, square leg umpire Ian Gould was seen rushing to him for a friendly tête-à-tête, after which the bails came back to where they belonged. Apparently, Dhoni will now need an official permission from the International Cricket Council to collect his favourite cricket souvenirs.
