Current cricketers aren’t the only ones who can make quick money; these days it pays to be a successful ex-cricketer too. Anil Kumble, the legendary spinner who took over as head of the Karnataka Cricket Association after he retired, proposes to train Indian cricketers in the art of public speaking. Kumble recently told a committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that most cricketers are poor communicators and cut a sorry figure in post-match television interviews, so he would like to impart basic minimum skills to each squad member. His fee: Rs 10 lakh per player. Cash-rich BCCI is, however, yet to take a call on the proposal.
