South Mumbai's disinterest in voting during the elections is quite well known. And with names of many prominent citizens missing from the electoral rolls this time, conspiracy theories have started doing the rounds. The most amusing rumour is that names of people from the Gujarati community were deliberately removed from the Mumbai rolls, so that the Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena alliance does not get enough votes. But with almost every person from the slums making it to the Aadhaar records and electoral rolls, one angry South Mumbai businessman was heard saying, "I think I will outsource the job of getting my name included in the voter lists to my household help from Bihar. He managed to get his name on the rolls within five years even though I have been voting here for the past 40 years and find my name deleted."
