At a recent hearing of a criminal case against former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Chhagan Bhujbal, many in attendance were surprised to see the Nationalist Congress Party leader in a muffler in Mumbai's sweltering heat. Several of his supporters, who had gathered to watch him as he made an appearance through a video link from the Arthur Road jail, where he has been lodged since his arrest last month, wondered if his cell had an air-conditioner.
