All visitors to Parliament House are allowed to enter the main premises after a thorough check and issuing of photo identity cards. These photographs are displayed on a small screen at the entry gate when the card and passes are swiped on an electronic reader. A new addition in the current winter session of Parliament is a small high definition television screen atop the small screen. This television screen displays photographs of terrorists and criminals wanted by investigating agencies. Nearly all photographs displayed on the screen are grainy old black and white pictures. Those of visitors displayed on the smaller screen are sharper, coloured pictures. While it’s a good effort to ensure the security of Parliament, security officials conceded that it would be difficult to match the old barely decipherable photographs of terrorists, probably a couple of decades old, with the photographs of visitors to Parliament.
