The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) might be short on money power compared with some of its larger counterparts, but it is definitely not short of ideas. After accosting passengers in Metro trains and forming a human chain during Raahgiri (a weekly street event that provides citizens with the opportunity to reclaim their streets) at Connaught Place, it has come up with a clever way to connect with people. Unsuspecting mobile subscribers have been receiving calls from one Anil Shukla, who, after urging them not to hang up, pleads his case - how he had come to Delhi from eastern Uttar Pradesh (UP), worked in the capital all his life and how political parties in the city now said that people from UP and Bihar did not belong to Delhi. "There is only one party that has given us some respect - AAP. They have fielded 11 candidates from amongst us," the voice says and then thanks the call receiver before hanging up.
