At a time when everyone is looking for ways to raise their incomes, here’s helpful information from a financial services provider and, if you please, the American Mustache Institute. Reuters reports that a study commissioned by the two found that Americans who had moustaches earned, on average, 8.2 per cent more than those with beards, and 4.3 per cent more than those who were clean-shaven. While that tells you a thing or two about the kind of research that’s going on, the study has more. It appears that people with moustaches spend 11 per cent more and save 3 per cent more than the average. All this in a study called “Saving and Spending Patterns of Mustached Americans”. The study was conducted using a random sample of 6,000 men — 2,000 each of the clean-shaven, moustached and bearded types.
