During his annual Navy Day press conference on December 2, navy chief, Admiral Nirmal Verma, faced an unusual outburst from a reporter who plaintively accused him of being “the second-most unapproachable chief ever”. The admiral calmly asked the journalist who he considered the most unapproachable chief ever. The nonplussed journalist cited former army chief, General Nirmal Chand Vij, as the most aloof. Without missing a beat, Admiral Verma responded, “It must be because both of us share the first name, Nirmal.”
