BJP leader Arun Jaitley’s aversion to official facilities, bungalows, cars and security, are well known. He has given his official residence, on Ashoka Road, to the party while he continues to live in his own house in a south Delhi neighbourhood. However, soon after being elected leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, a posse of policemen carrying a makeshift gate with embedded metal detector reached his office.
So far, Jaitley has managed to stay away. Meanwhile, Jaswant Singh has not yet given up his official car, to which he was entitled as the leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. Jaitley having been appointed to that role, is not missing the official Ambassador, as he has just bought himself a fancy red Porsche SUV.
