While the education system in Bihar has come under fire after Class XII topper Ruby Rai was seen on video mispronouncing political science as "prodigal science" and calling it the "science of cooking", it seems students in rural areas of neighbouring West Bengal are faring not much better.
When asked the name of their country and its capital, their answers were "Bangladesh" and "Dhaka" respectively. The Bardhaman district magistrate, who was visiting schools in the district, was left dumbfounded by the answers to some common questions. Worse still, students could not spell "West Bengal" correctly!
