National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Chairman P L Punia, who was in Lucknow to hear cases of alleged atrocities against dalits, is peeved with the Uttar Pradesh government for denying him accommodation in a VVIP Guest House. A retired bureaucrat of the UP cadre, Punia was once a confidant of Chief Minister Mayawati before he turned a bete noire for his affiliation with the Congress. Meanwhile, Punia said the Commission would probe the accommodation issue and the state government officials concerned would be charged under Atrocities Act for disrupting the official work of NCSC if they are found guilty.
