Lawyer Pankaj Dubey, who fought on behalf of the farmers of Noida and Greater Noida to oppose land acquisition for real estate projects, is now on the receiving end of his former clients’ ire. They’re unhappy with his statements on TV describing as favourable the Allahabad High Court’s verdict increasing their compensation. “He fought the case for us, and now he says he is happy with the verdict. How can this be?” said an irritated farmer. Most farmers were unhappy with the high court’s verdict and want their land back. They plan to move the Supreme Court to this effect.
