Actor Emraan Hashmi’s visit to Parliament created a furore last week. Television reporters who were conducting interviews with politicians in the foyer suddenly grabbed their microphones and ran to corral Hashmi (pictured) who said he was in Parliament, seat of India’s democracy, to promote his film The Dirty Picture. This has so offended Bahujan Samaj Party MP Dhananjay Singh that he has written a letter to the secretary generals of the two houses asking why Hashmi was given permission to come to Parliament. Upon enquiries, it transpired that Hashmi was a guest of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and someone from the party sent for him. Now the Parliament house sleuths are busy finding out who precisely arranged for his entry.
