In line with its concept of honouring past ministers and people who have contributed to the development of agriculture in the country, the ministry of agriculture has put up pictures of past Union agriculture ministers in its main conference room, starting with Dr Rajendra Prasad, who was agriculture minister in Jawaharlal Nehru's interim Cabinet and went on to become the President of India. But surprisingly, for a ministry that was of critical importance in the years before economic reform, officials are finding it difficult to locate usable photographs of several ministers, with the result that there are gaps in the sequence of portraits.
