In the heat of argument, or passion, pledging your soul is not unheard of, but to do so with a contract? The Kontara loan company in Latvia is offering precisely this kind of a deal. According to a Reuters news feed, the loan company is asking clients to sign a contract that offers their ‘immortal soul’ as collateral. The company’s public face, Viktor Mirosiichenko, has been quoted as saying his firm will not employ debt collectors to get its money back, saying ‘if they don’t give it back, what can you do? They won’t have a soul, that’s all.” It’s early days yet, but it’s clear the company won’t have any dearth of borrowers, whether with or without a soul will determine whether it makes money or not.
