Power Minister Piyush Goyal recently released a booklet on the achievements of the power, coal and new & renewable energy ministries to mark "Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji's leadership in the first 200 days". The booklet has the exhortation, "Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya" (from darkness, lead us into light), taken from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, emblazoned across its cover. It talks of how, after 67 years of independence, 280 million people have no access to electricity, and then lists the initiatives of the power and coal ministries for "a brighter future". It then singles out Delhi, which goes to the polls next month, for a special mention - how "the grid collapsed on 30th May 2014" and how "the Central government took charge, worked day and night" to restore power. The booklet signs off with a mention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the power ministry's Rs 1,000-crore planned investment to set up separate toilets for girls and boys by August 15, 2015.
